Humanitarian of the Year Award

    April 13, 1999 motion:

That the Fargo-Moorhead Kennel Club offers a Humanitarian of the Year Award at the awards banquet each year.

This award would be made to the individual or organization which has improved the lives of animals.  Club members are not eligible but may be members of the organization nominated.

The award may honor action beyond the previous year.  The call for nominations will be submitted in writing to the committee, who will determine up to four (4) nominees to be published in the December newsletter.  At the January general meeting, a simple majority vote, by secret written ballot will determine the recipient of the award.

Notes:
1. Animals are not limited to dogs.
2. Examples of actions to be honored, but not limited to: rescue, disaster rescue, health issues, legislative leadership, recovery of lost or stolen animals, education of the public for bettering animal’s lives...
3. Using animals to improve human lives does not meet the focus of this award.  Examples of these actions would be Search and Rescue dogs and trainers, police dogs, bomb or drug sniffing dogs, cancer sniffing dogs, guide dogs and assistance dogs...
4. This award does not need to be awarded each year, only be offered.
